"Daniel Shapiro is an enthusiastic, creative, content-generating machine. Daniel loves the intersection of story-telling, video and visuals, and technology. Not only is he creative, he’s also a relentless trouble-shooter when things go wrong, and he bears down when others give up. Daniel is a joy to have in an organization because of his verve for life and his creative passion. I’ve asked him to join more than one of my teams, because he’s a guy who gets things done." - Prof. Jim Flink, University of Missouri
"He was organized, smart and was able to see problems early on and then correct them. That last part is key. Daniel isn’t the type of person to bring a problem to a manager without thinking of a solution first. ... "He has an excellent sense of story and is curious about most everything he sees. He is a great asker of “Why is it this way?,” and that has resulted in some excellent stories. He’s
also generous in sharing his story ideas with [others]" - Prof. Judd Slivka, University of Missouri
“Daniel Shapiro is the person you build a team around - by that, I mean he is absolutely the person you want in just about any situation. Daniel is comfortable taking the lead or stepping back and providing support for others. He’s the ultimate professional, able to rise to any occasion and quickly determine the best course of action. If you need someone you can count on to get the job done while also communicating out updates, changes, and ideas in a professional and prompt manner, look no further: Daniel is your man. He also makes some great banana bread.” - Mark Johnson, former supervisor
Hello! I’m Daniel, a multimedia journalist, videographer, photographer, producer, writer and connoisseur of all things related to innovating in journalism.
I’m a graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism (BA’15, MA’20), where I studied convergence and documentary journalism.
I’ve traveled as far as Beijing to cover the news in a variety of formats. I’m comfortable producing content of all types; social media videos, stories written for newspapers or websites, and audio pieces for radio or podcasts.
I’m interested in covering just about everything, but I particularly enjoy covering breaking/trending sports, politics, technology, some historical think pieces, and whatever wave of nostalgia is hitting us all of once, like French Toast Crunch.
In my spare time I play quidditch. No, really.
